2025 EDITION OF THE URBAN MOBILITY OBSERVATORY

The Parking Survey is a study conducted in partnership with an independent polling firm.

Titled “The Hybrid Future of Car Parks,” the 2025 edition was produced in collaboration with Ifop and provides a snapshot of French people’s expectations regarding car parks. It highlights a rich and varied vision of the car park of the future.

Here are the main findings:

  • The car remains the most widely used mode of transportationby the French: 85% of the French still regularly use a gasoline-powered car
  • Other modes of transportation are gaining ground: 62% take public transportation, 48% ride bicycles, and 13% drive electric cars.
  • Cona logical consequence of this practice, 48% of French people — and as51% in Paris and the inner suburbs — would like to see “more and more parking spaces,” even though only 23% believe this will actually happen.
  • Users are increasinglyare calling for new features and services within car parks: 26% for local services, 26% for retail, 24% for delivery, and 24% for urban logistics
  • Paris stands out as a hub for innovation and alternative modes of transportation: 28% are occasional car users electric vehicles, a sign of their growing adoption, compared with 13% for the French population as a whole. 65% would be willing to use a storage space integrated into the car park. One in 10 envisions the car park as a cultural or sports venue.

In short, for the French, a car park is no longer just a place to park your car. It is becoming a hybrid space, connected to all forms of mobility and the needs of the city of tomorrow.
